vista beta help

i get 80070241 when i try and install vista beta 2 which i downloaded today tryed from dvd desktop and new installation also tryed downloading a further 2 times in case of corrupted download anyone know what 800070241 is and how to correct it

Try burning the DVD image again at a low speed, 2x recommended. Also, try launching setup from within Windows XP. If that does not work, create a folder and extract the contents of the ISO to it and launch setup from there. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Interesting that I only get one text file when I try to extract the ISO. I don't understand that

I did download it using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.04. Come on, what computer geek would really use IE that is testing Vista, lol. Although this posting system looks much better in IE.
Oh, and I redownloaded Vista and it didn't solve the problem. It appears to be a problem with the CD player reading the DVD as opposed to being a problem with the ISO. I received a error when trying to copy the data over from my DVD to the hard drive on my laptop "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"
Microsoft apparently knows about this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321640/
Suggestion to all that are having this problem... Get an external DVD player/burner.

Bill,
If you haven't yet registered for the Vista Customer Preview Program and think you want to try Vista Beta 2, the Beta program will stop taking new orders tomorrow! See: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx:

If you look a few posts down, Tom beat you to it. "JS" <@> wrote in message

Hi,
The next beta involving Vista is for Service Pack 1. I do not know at this point what criteria they are using to determine who is invited to participate.

The Vista SP1 Beta is by invitation only. Only those testers that are in the current Server 2008 Beta or the original Vista Beta are eligible to participate.
